The Whyteleafe Christmas fair took place on December 3rd and was the first of our December events, followed quickly by the St Nicholas Fair on St Nicholas Day (December 6th) at (surprise...) St Nicholas School in Merstham.
You can never be quite sure how a fair or market is going to go, again it was a super evening with lots of happy tasters. We've not been disappointed yet!
Our December events also saw the introduction of our Lavender and Blackberry vinegars. They were a big hit at the Hampton Estate beef collection day. It was a superb day where we were well looked after by the excellent hosts and met some really lovely new customers. We were also given a box of bletted medlars, which having dripped over night are just about to be turned in to a rich spicy jelly, perfect for the Christmas table.
This week sees our biggest market to date, the Farnham Malting's Christmas Fair on Tuesday from 4 til 10pm. We have been cooking all wekened to ensure we're not low on stock for the following Saturday when we return to Tatsfield for the Craft Fair on Saturday 17th from 11am until 3pm. This will be our final public event for the year.
As I look back over the year it's been really quite amazing! Having been made redundant in January it took until July to conlude that, even with the economic climate, now was the time to leave behind my designer days and embrace a new opportunity. Having started trading in September, things are looking bright for the new year. Life eh?! Full of ups, downs, highs & lows; but having been made redundant as I turned 50 and thinking the future looked bleak I can honestly say I've met the nicest people including those who also run home based businesses, the people we supply to in their restaurants and retail outlets and our new customers. "Should have done it years ago!"
